5 signs you should stop marketing and start focusing on your business foundations
We're often led to believe when we're not seeing results from our marketing or advertising, we need to do more of everything. More promotions, more sales, more ads, more posting... you get the picture!
But you may be relieved to hear that this isn't, in my experience, what is going to help.
Working closely with dozens of women with eCommerce businesses, I have a front-row seat into every aspect of their business, brand, and marketing. And when I help them transform their results, 9 times out of 10 it isn't because we've added more to their marketing list.
It's actually because we've stopped, stepped back, and looked at their foundations instead of pouring more energy, time, and money into marketing.
How to know if you're marketing isn't working
your sales have slowed, stopped or plateaued
you are can't describe who your ideal customer is
you can't quite articulate exactly what it is you offer/do/sell
you are unsure of what makes your product different or better to others on the market
you feel like you’ve tried everything and nothing seems to be working
you’re overwhelmed, confused, stressed and near burn out.
I see women experience some or all of these things everyday.
I also see SO many messages from other coaches or experts telling women to "hustle harder", go big or spend more on Facebook ads when the real problem is their business or marketing foundations.
What do you mean by marketing foundations?
This is a term I use to describe the building blocks of your business. They are key to establishing, growing, and scaling an eCommerce brand or online store.
Such as
a clear product offering
the right pricing strategy
specific target market
your customer journey
a simple, memorable, and unique message
a strong brand strategy (and no, this doesn't mean your logo!)
No amount of time, money, or advertising can overcome poor business foundations. Sure you may see quick wins, but in time, you will still need to circle right back around and get clear and strategic on those key success factors.
I see this happen a lot, typically around the 12-18 month mark, where the shine has worn off a little, and your business starts to feel like an expensive hobby.
If you want to gain some clarity on this for your own business, I can help. This is what I love to do.
I offer 45min phone consultations to get clarity on what's stopping you from growing and where we can create more success in your business.
